This small Moroccan fishing village has become known for its legendary right-hand break waves and slow pace of life, drawing surfers and travelers from across the globe.
The Bay
A forgiving beach break, a point break at the peak and an absolute heaven for longboarders. Its mellow takeoffs, endless glide, and various sections make it perfect for beginners, intermediates, and advanced surfers working on style, noserides, or smooth turns. Rides here can last for minutes, not just seconds.
Cathedral
A mix of beach break and point break, more powerful and best known as the shortboarder’s go-to spot. When the swell gets bigger, Cathedral offers fast, punchy sections and plenty of room to push performance.
From first-timers to seasoned professionals, Imsouane offers the perfect canvas to learn, progress, and refine your surf. Whether you’re chasing your first ride or upgrading your technique, this magical bay is a place where every surfer finds their wave.
The Big Problem
Growing city
As Imsouane is growing, new businesses spring up. Many are built and run by outsiders.
Native people
The Berber people often raised as fishermen with limited access to education or formal work opportunities are left watching from the sidelines.
Cultural Appropriation
The only thing the Berber people know better than anyone around here – the ocean, the waves, their home and culture – being monetized by Arabic people from the north or tourists.
FIFA Cup
Many of Imsouane’s people had jobs as chefs in the kitchen, as surf instructors or they had their own businesses such as restaurants and surf shops. With the upcoming World Cup, most of those local businesses had been bulldozed as the government took their land back to build something bigger for the tourism industry.
Reality
As time passes, more and more locals are being fired and lose work opportunities. The waves remain as one of their last chances to build a future for themselves. Now, surf instructors visiting from everywhere are taking up those jobs. Jobs that should first belong to the community itself – the people born and raised on these waves.

Created by Youssef, who was born into a Berber fisherman’s family, he envisions to spread more awareness about the Berber community in Morocco and to share their culture with the world. He has fallen in love with surfing and trained hard to make this beautiful sport look oh so effortless. As a chance to follow his dreams and build a sustainable future for himself, he wants to share his love for surfing and welcome guests with tailored longboard surf lessons, surf-related specials and a surfboard rental – and hopefully more to come.
